11/01/2010   New homes for Swanmore residents

HARAH has built 14 new homes for local people in housing need in Swanmore, South East Hampshire. The homes at Dodds Lane comprise 10 family-sized houses and four one-bed flats. A special tree-planting ceremony was held to celebrate the development, now called Cobbetts Close, with guests including Councillor Frank Pearson and other members of Swanmore Parish Council.

The origins of the development go back to 2002, when the Hampshire Rural Housing Enablers began work with Swanmore Parish Council to find a suitable site for new rural housing for local people. Following a consultation event at which a number of sites were considered by members of the community, Dodds Lane was selected as the most suitable location.

All homes have a “Very Good” Eco Homes rating. The Hyde Group Development Officer, Scott Edwards, says: “The delivery of high quality affordable housing for local people is one of Hyde’s top priorities. I look forward to seeing our new homes occupied by families who are proud to call Cobbetts Close home.”

Councillor Frank Pearson said: “This is an excellent example of what can be achieved through the HARAH partnership. I welcome the delivery of new homes for Swanmore residents and thank HARAH and Hyde for the fantastic work.”
